LAWRENCE RIGGINS

Director & Writer

Lawrence Riggins (MFA, UCLA) is a producer, screenwriter, playwright, director, writing consultant, a member of the Writers Guild of America, and has over 15 years of motion picture and television industry experience. He has co-produced two feature films and has developed several television movie projects (true-life stories).

He as sold more than a dozen screenplays and stage plays; he has written for SONY/Tristar Pictures, Milennium Films, Paramount Pictures, 21st Century, ABC Television, Atlantis Films, MGM, FOX, Symphony Picutres, Ruddy-Morgan and numerous independent feature film companies. He has won dozens of writing awards for excellence in screenwriting including the Samuel Goldwyn, Jack Nicholson, Writers Digest, Laughing Horse, Chesterfield, Cyclone, Thunderbird, and Lawrence Thor. His stage-play, Seed of Darkness: The Final Tale of Edgar Allan Poe has received numerous awards and productions.

He recently completed a feature screenplay Spooky for The Ruddy-Morgan Organization (Milliion Dollar Baby) and is the original writer of Artisan's $20 million release Replicant starring Jean Claude Van Damme.

He has extensive associations with producer rperesentatives and distribution outlets and formed distribution relationships for three feature films prior to forming a strategic partnership with LA Pictures Group. He assembled a distribution team that garnered a four hundred percent profit for his action film Ironheart.

He holds a Master of Fine Arts with a specialization in motion pictures and television from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), and a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts from California State University, Long beach. For fourteen years he has taught college-level film courses including screenwriting, film production, marketing an distribution, critical studies, genres, and film history; his latest teaching assignment is at UCLA's prestigious school of Cinema (considered by some the best film school in the world) where he teaches advanced graduate level screenwriting.

He is often invited to teach his copyrighted seminar on Story Stucture for Writers and Development Executives. His recent film, Danny's Deathumentary, (director/writer/producer) is currently touring the film festival circuit and was an official selection in Hollywood's Shriekfest Film Festival.
